"You have helped us turn our lives around and I feel that without this
experience we would still have many problems. You are all so very caring
and I thank God every day that there was someone/someplace that cared
about us."

PLEDGE DRIVE 2012

CALLING ALL DONORS & VOLUNTEERS!

In the past few months, I have been asked multiple times, “WHY?”
Why I am so passionate about the work we do at Heartline and Heart
House.  Why we work so hard to implement new programs and
strengthen our alliances.  Why we are so determined to make a
difference, despite the ongoing economic chaos that surrounds so
many of our clients and residents.  Why are we so persistent?

Not too long ago, a young couple came into the office, seeking
formula for their newborn.  They were on a 30-day waiting list to get
assistance from another local agency.  An elderly woman came in
asking for food as she was forced to choose between her much
needed medication and groceries.  She chose medication … she
had been eating toilet paper for the three previous days.   A young,
single mother, walked away from a life of drugs, and is turning her
life around.  She is working and attending school, but is living without
the convenience of electricity.   Another mother seeks a better life for
her children and wants to protect them from the horrors of life on the
streets.  A woman who is brave enough to finally leave her abuser
and needs help taking that first step to a new reality.
